Quota Bucket Filling Up Prematurely Because of Skipped Questions

So I have a quota cell defined like this: q1<>6 and q2<4 Unfortunately, the program seems to see a blank in q2 as being <4, so it's qualifying people into my quota who skipped q2 entirely. Is this right? I suppose I should have specified that I wanted q2 to be 1, 2 or 3 but not 4 or more?

SSI Scripting interprets a blank variable (in this case, a skipped question) as having a value of zero when used in logical comparisons. One way to solve this problem is to add a little more logic. Below are three examples:

  • q1 <> 6 and q2 > 0 and q2 < 4
  • q1 <> 6 and (Answered(q2) and q2 < 4)
  • q1 <> 6 and (Shown(q2) and q2 <4)
