what does the labels file look like?

When using Sawtooth Online Simulator, I found it can let user  upload a file that contains labels (*.labels). Does anyone know what this file looks like?

The labels file is an XML file.  Reference documentation can be found at https://sawtoothsoftware.com/lfr

Generally, you will not need to create or modify the labels file.  It is created by SSI Web and other Sawtooth Software programs when exporting data.

If you are uploading data to the online simulator from a Sawtooth Software product that has created the labels file, then using it will bring in additional information about the data.  Therefore, we recommend that you use it.

If you are uploading variable data from a source that does not automatically create the labels file, then it is usually easier to just upload the variables and then manually enter the additional label information directly into the online simulator on the Data Settings Page.  It is usually more work to create a labels file by hand than it is to enter the labels directly into the online simulator by hand.

If you are uploading utilities from a source that does not create the labels file (or an .HBU file), then you will need to create the labels file.  The only time that you would need to create the labels file by hand is when you are uploading utilities that are coming from a source other than a Sawtooth Software product.

Please contact our technical support team if you have any further questions about the labels file and when it is needed.
