Maximum # of free format variables on a page?/Database error (v8, SQL Server 2005)

Running 8.02 on SQL Server 2005 and one of my free format pages with 85 variables is giving me a database error. Basically storing the results of some javascript calculations. Could do server-side in perl but there would be a significant amount of recoding.  Is there any way to get around this?

SSIWebVersion= 8_0_2 ErrorNum= 240 msg= Database error. and to add, seems to work fine and record properly when I test locally, would it help to use a different database?

Locally, it is using a different database (SQLite).
