ACBC: HB with vs. without BYO section

Has anybody seen similar patterns?:
When calculation HB in an ACBC included the BYO section vs. without there can result quite different partworth utilities. Some partworhts even diverge in the rank wihtin an attribute. Do you think it is ok that BYO has sucht an impact on part worth utilities? If so the prices shown there are expected also to have an impact....

Any ideas?

Certainly this probes at how much one should trust respondents to give you rank-order of levels within attributes and then to use these as "soft" constraints in HB estimation.  ACBC's BYO question just asks respondents to indicate their "favorite" level, and applies this as additional information to strongly nudge that most preferred level to also be the most preferred final estimated utility.

I strongly encourage you to read Kevin Lattery's presentation at the 2009 Sawtooth Software Conference on "Coupling Stated Preferences with Conjoint Tasks to Better Estimate Individual Utilities".  The reference is: http://www.sawtoothsoftware.com/download/techpap/2009Proceedings.pdf

The issues raised in that paper are quite related to the issues you are grappling with.
