Radio buttom preselected

Dear team,

after a CBC we would like to conduct a simple choice experiment with one question only where people would have to choose among two options. We would like to test whether pre-selecting an option would have an effect on the choice likelihood of that option.

Is there any way to pre-select one option (out of two) with your software (with the select question)? We are working with ssi-web-8.

Best wishes,
Stefanie

Start by creating a constructed list.  The constructed list's parent should be the list of radio button options and the list should have this code:

Add(list1)
Randomize()
ListMax(1)

"list1" should be replaced with the name of the parent list.

Now give the select question this code:

<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
    if (!SSI_GetValue('SelectQ')) {
        SSI_SetSelect('SelectQ_[% ListValue(list2, 1) %]', true);
    }
})
</script>

"SelectQ" should be replaced with the name of the select question.  "list2" should be replaced with the name of the constructed list.

When you go to analyze the data, the value of the constructed list will tell you which option was pre-selected for each respondent.
