Removing the clickable element of a select option "row"

I have several select question options that use the [%PopUp()%] script and when one clicks the hyperlink the option is selected. My client doesn't like this.

Is there a way to disable the feature that selects the option when you click the "row" it's in?

Thanks.

The following code will render select item labels unclickable:

<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
    $('.select .option_cell, .select .options, .select label').click(function() { return false; });
})
</script>

This CSS should remove the special cursor when users hover over the labels:

<style type="text/css">
.select .option_cell, .select .options, .select label {
    cursor: default;
}
</style>
