Sebastian Schubert

Sebastian is a full time research and teaching assistant at the Chair and Institute for Engineering Design, RWTH Aachen University, Germany. The main themes of his research include variant design processes, engineering design and methods. He obtained a diploma degree in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen University. During his studies, he worked with different companies in automotive and aeronautical industries.

In his spare time, he spends his time doing sports, especially running and sailing.

Sebastian uses Sawtooth’s ACA Software for his doctoral thesis in order to determine the preferences of product characteristics (levels) of a certain technical consumer product. The aim of his research is to develop a methodology supporting designers in planning their product lines. The planning is successful in case the individual requirements of the customers are fulfilled without causing a high internal complexity. Internal complexity describes the number of parts and processes and their dependencies.
