Grant Cavanaugh

Grant Cavanaugh is a doctoral candidate at the University of Kentucky's Department of Agricultural Economics. He likes running and listening to NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross.

For his dissertation, Grant is investigating the prospects for launching new futures and options contracts to help manage catastrophic El Nino risk.

He is using Sawtooth's Adpative Choice-Based Conjoint software to estimate the demand for various designs of those new contracts.

Grant also works for GlobalAgRisk, a research group associated with the University of Kentucky that develops insurance to protect poor communities against natural disasters. Prior to coming to Kentucky, Grant worked as a consultant on World Bank and USAID agricultural development projects.
