James Durrand

James is a specialty trainee in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine based in the North East of England. He is a PhD student in the department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation at Northumbria University, Newcastle UK.

James is undertaking research into facilitated self-managed (‘home-based’) prehabilitation prior to major surgical intervention, aiming to modify lifestyle factors, unhealthy behaviours and chronic health conditions and reduce postoperative complications.  His project incorporates a questionnaire based study utilising conjoint analysis to explore patients preferences for the delivery of home-based prehabilitation interventions to inform the development of a novel, patient centred tool to improve perioperative outcomes.

James is a MBChB and intercalated BSc University of Manchester School of Medicine UK, MSc Evidence Based Medicine Teesside university UK, Fellow of the UK Royal College of Anaesthetists and Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
