Jakub Golik

Jakub Golik is 27-year-old PhD candidate (2nd year) in the field of economics at the faculty of Management and Economics at Gdańsk University of Technology. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Master’s degree in International Management both of them received from his alma mater. Jakub is currently employed at the university as Research and Teaching Assistant at the department of Entrepreneurship and Business Law and has almost 2 years of experience in teaching students essentials of econometrics, economics and entrepreneurship related subjects.

His main research interests are the notion of expected utility, risk measures and risk propensity in the context of entrepreneurship. The aim of his PhD dissertation is to model the expected utility function of career choice problem (between employment and self-employment) among students of the second cycle (master's degree). He uses a model based on the concept of utility vs disutility in the career choice. With the help of Sawtooth Software and the Adaptive Choice-Based Conjoint (ACBC) analysis he aims to empirically investigate important factors influencing career choice decisions and find out trade-offs between them.
