Trouble Shooting SSI Web's Local Web
When clicking on the "Test | Run on Local Web Server | Run Questionnaire" a browser window opens up with the following error:
"The page cannot be displayed"
Cause:
SSI Web's Local Web has been implemented with the Apache Web Server. Local Web allows you to test your survey on your local computer before uploading it to the web. When SSI Web starts up it attempts to start Apache in the background. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del, Task Manager, Processes should show two Apache processes when SSI Web is running.
The main reason the Local Web displays the "The page cannot be displayed" error is because some other process on your PC is interfering with it. Read below for some trouble shooting steps.
Trouble Shooting Steps:
-
Disable Norton (antivirus) Personal Firewall
-
In Internet Explorer click on "Tools | Internet Options | Connections | LAN Settings". Make sure that your settings look similar to the following settings:
-
Make sure that no other local web server is running. Open up a browser and go to "http://localhost/". If a web page opens up then another web server is probably running. Close down the other web server. If no web page opens and you continue to get a "The page cannot be displayed" error then another web server is probably not running on your PC.
