Marcus Parrish

Marcus Parrish is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chemical and Systems Biology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Prior to Stanford, he received his PhD in Biological Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his BS in Biomedical Engineering from Yale University.

Marcus’s postdoctoral work centers on investigating Huntington’s Disease patients’ interest  in experimental preventive therapeutics. Huntington’s disease is a rare, genetic, neurodegenerative disease affecting 2.7 out of 100,000 people in the world. He is utilizing CBC analysis to determine how these patients would select experimental preventive treatments weighing potential therapeutic benefits, potential side effects, and supportive preliminary data. From this investigation, he will propose a new regulatory paradigm for preventative therapeutics that will be guided by the preferences of the HD community. It is his hope that this study facilitates the development of preventative treatments for HD.
