Philipp Daun

Philipp is currently completing his B.Sc. in industrial engineering in the field of electrical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany. At the moment, he is working on his bachelor thesis about the willingness to pay for electric vehicles in Germany.

The objective of his study is to analyze technical factors which influences the purchasing decision of potential buyers of an electric vehicle and how they change the willingness to pay. Furthermore his research will focus on the costumer perception relating to electric vehicles in the population of Germany and identifying people who could be currently the preferred buyers or early adopters.

Philipp is using CBC to confront potential buyers with several combinations of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and conventional vehicles with different characteristic and values. With attributes like range of the vehicle, motor type, power, charging time, fuel/electricity costs per 100 kilometers and purchase costs he is able to closely simulate the complex purchase and decision process of different alternatives and products in competitive context of a vehicle purchase.
