Mark Fiala

Mark Fiala is a MSW candidate at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. He also holds the position of Clinical Research Specialist at Washington University School of Medicine within the Division of Oncology.

Mark has spent 10 years in clinical research collaborating on many projects including cancer epidemiology, biology, and therapeutic clinical trials. His individual research interest is in disparities in cancer treatment and outcomes based on race and socioeconomic status. 

His thesis is titled “Sociodemographic-Based Differences in the Treatment Preferences of Patients with Cancer.”  This project will use Conjoint Based Choice surveys to determine what association, if any, race and socioeconomic status have with patient preferences to treatment.
