Sawtooth Software: The Survey Software of Choice

Announcing 2016 Marketing Analytics Competition

Sawtooth Software, together with Stanley Black & Decker and SSI (Survey Sampling International) are pleased to announce the 2016 Sawtooth Software Marketing Analytics Consulting Challenge! All interested universities may participate in Phase I of the competition, to be managed and judged within each school. The subject matter is a real business problem supplied by Stanley Black & Decker. This case study will be made available the first week of January, 2016 and will suggest a CBC (Choice-Based Conjoint) solution to the problem.

Universities who participate in Phase I of the marketing analytics challenge may receive a free 50-user license for Sawtooth Software's Discover-CBC platform (our new SaaS-based CBC software) good for use between January 1 and March 31, 2016. Because of the relatively large amount of work involved with this case study competition, we suggest incorporating the competition within a university course. Most student teams will consist of graduate-level students, though capable undergraduate student teams are also encouraged to participate.

Eight university teams have already been (or are in the process of being) selected to participate in Phase II of the competition. These teams will present their findings and recommendations to judges including Stanley Black & Decker. Confirmed teams so far are from Ohio State University, Brigham Young University, and USC. We plan to make available a video of the winning team's presentation in late March 2016. It would be valuable for Phase I participants to view this video shortly after having completed their own within-school competitions.
